Alice Margaret Hill, 102, of Richmond, died Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Alice was born on November 28, 1915, in Richmond, to John and Alice Ann (King) Stewart. She was united in marriage on June 13, 1939, to Charles A. Stratton of Richmond. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1980. She then married Carl L. Hill on June 27, 1981. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1994.
Survivors include: one daughter, Diane Stratton of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers: George Stewart and John Stewart in infancy; and three sisters: Isabelle Huffman, Elizabeth Berthiume, and Helen (Maye) Moore.
As a teenager Alice worked at her father's store. She then married and worked at her family's bakery. She enjoyed being a housewife and a mother to Diane. She walked everywhere she went and enjoyed traveling and socializing. She was active in the Richmond community. Alice was president of the PTA and the Professional Woman's Business Club for many years. She was also part of the Altar Society and was the secretary for the local Democratic Party. She also spent time volunteering in many organizations over the years. Alice enjoyed visiting the Eagleton Senior Center daily for many years. She was of the Catholic faith and a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Richmond.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond or to the Eagleton Center in Richmond. They can be dropped off or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street - P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
