Obituary

ALICE ELNORA JONES

Alice Elnora Jones, 92, of Richmond, MO, died on Friday, April 23, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital. Mrs. Jones was born in Fayette, MO on July 25, 1917 to Rev. Ernest G. and Margaret Jones; they preceded her in death. After graduation from Lindenwood College in 1939, she moved to Richmond where her father was a Methodist minister.
Alice married Harry C. Jones of Richmond on December 26, 1940. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2001. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Sandy Jones of Overland Park, KS and Ernest and Nancy Jones of Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Joe Hellmann of Plano, TX; her A.F.S. son and family, Dr. Luis Planas of Waconda, IL; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Alice will be most remembered for her trained soprano voice and gifted musical talent. She set the example of knowing and showing how to love with every inch of her heart, leaving no chamber, ventricle or vessel empty and how to make a brief moment's happening into a wonderful story. Alice showed those who have had the sincere fortune of meeting her how to stylishly wear those Jones rose-colored glasses and knew the few real moments in life a person needs to take them off. She saw the good in ALL people; how to be open-minded and terrifically stubborn at the same time; how to enjoy and embrace the individual, unique qualities and characteristics of all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice Jones was a lover. She loved her family, she loved her friends, she loved her church and her favorite view was the one from the choir loft. She loved lipstick; it didn't matter what color it was or even whose it was, just as long as her lips were sticked. Alice was so many things to so many people, whose lives have been enriched and blessed for having known and been loved by her.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Richmond United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the service. Inurnment will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
