AMY E. JOHNSON

Amy E. Johnson, 86, of Richmond, MO, died at 12:04 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital.
Amy was born on July 24, 1925 in Ray County, MO to Odus and Mary (Claypole) McElwee. She first married Nealie Kermit Harlin of Lafayette, Tennessee on June 11, 1941. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1975. She later married Worth Johnson of Independence, MO, on September 28, 1979. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2005.
Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, Richard K. and Carol Harlin of Gladstone, MO, three daughters and their spouses, Shirley and Donald Harrison of Liberty, MO, Vicki L. Evans of Clarinda, IA, Amy and Gary Covey of Richmond, MO. One brother, Hearold McElwee and wife, Barbara of Lucas, IA, one sister, Odie Williams of Lawson, MO, eight grandchildren, sixteen great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Amy was preceded in death by two brothers, George William McElwee and Odus McElwee, Jr. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Sunderman, two grandchildren, James Charles Harlin and Melanie R. Hall.
Amy was an inspector at Lake City Arsenal for over thirty years, before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Independence Calvary Baptist Church. She had lived in Ray County most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Down Syndrome Guild, Kansas City Chapter.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery
