Obituary

Anita Louise (Bowman) Mautino 81, a resident of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Richmond.

Anita was born on December 7, 1942, in Richmond, the daughter of Norman and Henrietta (Davidson) Bowman. She was united in marriage to Vernon Derstler, they later divorced, then she was united in marriage to Junior McNelly, they later divorced, she was then united in marriage to August Leon Mautino on August 10, 1973, he preceded her in death on October 9, 2021.

She is survived by one son, Brian (Bobbi) Derstler of Richmond, one daughter, Jo Ellen Compton of Granbury, TX, brother, Norman (Margie) Bowman of Richmond, sister Wanda (Robert) Harshner of Blue Springs, two grandchildren, Brooke (Ethan) Stark of Kansas City and Alex Compton of Austin, TX, two great grandchildren Crew and Myles Stark both of Kansas City. She is also survived by brother-in-law Paul (Linda) Mautino of Chillicothe and very close friends Tom and Illene Lager of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son in law, Ronnie Compton.

Anita was a 1960 graduate of Richmond High School. She worked for many years at Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence. She loved cooking and especially loved baking cookies for her grandchildren. Anita was very meticulous about her home and always strived to provide a clean and loving home for her family. She also enjoyed going to the casino. She especially enjoyed when her siblings came to visit her at the assisted living facility. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

The family suggest memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital they can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home 507 East Main Street/P.O. Box 190 Richmond, MO 64085.
