ANNA CHARLENE SWANSON

Anna Charlene Swanson, 87, of Independence, MO died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Villages of Jackson Creek Assistant Living in Independence.

Anna was born on December 27, 1928 in Richmond, MO to Charles and Annie (Zuklin) Shipley. She married Vincent Swanson of Beresford, SD in 1981. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Wheeler pf Peyton, CO, Wayne Wheeler of Richmond and Samuel Wheeler of Casper, WY; four daughters and one son-in-law, Elizabeth Mansell of Lexington, MO, Linda and Jess Howes of Maude, OK, Arlene Bellis of Broken Arrow, OK and Burla Carr of Richmond; one sister, Helen Swanson of Liberty, MO; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wheeler; one daughter Peggy Wheeler; one brother, Charles Shipley; two sisters, Mildred Burkhart and Josephine Edgar; and two grandchildren, Kendalyn Wheeler and Lisa Abbott.

Anna was owner of the Crossroads Motel in Beresford, SD for several years. She lived in Beresford, SD before moving to Richmond in 2005. She was of the Christian faith.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Village of Jackson Creek Assistant Living.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. There will be no family visitation. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences maybe left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
