ARBIE O'DELL

Arbie O'Dell, 97, of Richmond, MO died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, MO.

Arbie was born on December 31, 1919 in Rayville, MO to Aaron and Fannie B. (Brizendine) O'Dell. He first married Virginia Elizabeth Williams of Excelsior Springs, MO in 1938. She preceded him in death in 2004.  He later married Isabell Matilda Wilkerson. She preceded him in death in 1971.  He then married Matilda Anna Louise (Tillie) Schulze of Sergeant, IA on December 4, 1971. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2001.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverly Ann and Fred Saunders of Bluefield, WV, Linda Maxine Eastabrooks of Richmond and Mary Jean and Jeff Fulkerson of Joplin, MO; 33 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife's, Arbie was preceded in death by three brothers, his twin, Arvie O'Dell, Virgil O'Dell and Aaron O'Dell; and three sisters, Ada Hughes, Nellie Sullard and Delka Wrisinger.

Arbie was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a coal miner. He worked at Ford Motor Company for over 30 years before retiring as an inspector 1974. He was a member of the U.A.W. Union Local #249. He was a member of Richmond Lodge #57 A.F & A.M. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine. He was Owner of the Depot Tavern in Richmond.  Arbie was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He loved to play the fiddle.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Disabled Veterans or to the Shriner Hospital's for children.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a masonic service at 6:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Online condolences maybe left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
