ARTHUR D. "ANDY" ANDERSON

Arthur David "Andy" Anderson, 85, of Carrollton, Missouri, formerly of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Carroll House of Carrollton.
David "Andy" was born December 30, 1925, in Northwest Carroll County, the son of Arthur F. and Mary Will (Elder) Anderson. He attended Carrollton grade school and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1943. He served in the Navy for both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked in service stations in Carrollton after the war. He operated Norborne Oil Co. from April 1952 until October 2001, when he retired. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post #551 of Norborne, MO. He was a third degree member of the General Shields Council #1893 of the Knights of Columbus for 64 years and a fourth degree member of the Fr. Edward Hamill Assembly 577 in Marshall for 62 years.
On April 21, 1948 he married Rosalia "Sally" Dick of Tipton, MO; she survives of the home.
Survivors include his children; Bob (Connie) Anderson, of Prairie Village, KS, Ron (Nancy) Anderson of Fayette, MO, Laurie (Charlie) Gotsch of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Greg (Denise) Anderson of Carrollton, MO, and Mark (Barb) Anderson of Camdenton, MO; grandchildren: Jeremy (Cherise) Anderson of Lawrence, KS, Chris Anderson of Prairie Village, KS, Noel (Misha) Anderson of Wichita, KS, Becky (Matt) Keeney of Hoover, AL, David (Meghan) Anderson of Kirkland, WA, Kristi (Kevin) Kenealy of Nevada, IA, Amanda Gotsch of Hills, IA, Lauren Anderson of Carrollton, MO, Sean Anderson of Carrollton, MO and Rose Anderson of Camdenton, MO and 12 great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ethel M. (Tatham) Anderson; and two sisters, Ann Martin and Christine Heidbrink.
The Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Norborne, MO, American Legion Post #551 of Norborne, MO, or the Knights of Columbus Council 1893 in memory of David. Memorial contributions may be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main, P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085


Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne, MO, visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, MO, burial at Sacred Heart.
