BARBARA J. SWAFFORD

Barbara J. Swafford, 71, of Lexington, MO, died at 7:05 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, MO.
Barbara was born July 6, 1937 in Hardin, MO to Ira and Opal (Branson) Anderson. She married Aaron T. Swafford on April 19, 1958; he died January 24, 1987.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Swafford of Lexington; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Todd Hulver of Mayview, MO; four brothers, Jack Anderson of Liberty, MO, Gerald Anderson, Bob Anderson and Junior Anderson all of Richmond; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Dale Gentry, and Judy and Ron Lowery all of Excelsior Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Lyndsay and Ashley Swafford, and Sara and Andrea Hulver; one goddaughter, Carey Barney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Anderson; and one sister, Helen Francis Bandy.
Barbara had worked at Lake City Arsenal for 25 years before retiring in 1992. She lived most of her life in Richmond before moving to Lexington in 2006. She was of the Baptist faith. She graduated from the Kansas City Business College with an Associates Degree in Business.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lexington Booster Club or Lexington Fine Arts Club.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, at 3:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Monday, March 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
