BENICE "BENSIE" ANDERSON

Benice "Bensie" Anderson, 81, of Richmond, MO died Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Bensie was born on July 6, 1930 in Essex Fells, New Jersey to Gardner and Benice (Barnett) Creed. She married Dallas "Tex" Anderson of Wabasso, MN on September 8, 1951; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Rae Ann Anderson of Glenside, PA; one daughter, Carol Anderson of Pflugerville, TX and one grandson, Derek Fancher.
In addition to her parents, Bensie was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Rodney Creed.
Bensie was a retired elementary school teacher, after teaching 19 years in the Richmond RV School District. She attended Park College and graduated from Central Missouri State University with B.S. degree in elementary education. She was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church Choir. She participated in numerous Kiwanis Theatre Guild musical productions including Oklahoma, Music Man and Brigadoon. Bensie was an avid traveler, visiting such places as China, Kenya, Tahiti, Scandinavia, Russia as well as Alaska and Hawaii. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had lived in Richmond most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made either to the Richmond United Methodist Church Music Program or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Richmond United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
