Bessie E. Stigall, 89, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at her home in Kansas City, MO.

Bessie was born on April 23, 1929 in Iola, KS to Walter and Edith (Robinson) Eakin.  She married William H. "Bill" Stigall on May 29, 1948; he preceded her in death on August 28 2012.

Survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law, William L. and Kimberly Stigall of Knoxville, TN and Steven H. and Sheryl Stigall of Kansas City; one sister, Betty (Eakin) Stith of Lanham, MD; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Christine Stigall, Shannon Stigall, Scott and Karen Stigall, Stephanie and Phillip Davis, Bryan Stigall, Jennifer and John Phillips, Megan Stigall and Nicholas Stigall; and 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Eakin.

Bessie was a housewife and homemaker, but worked for two years in Washington, D.C. as a clerk during WWII. She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend to all and was loved by all that knew her.  Bessie and her husband were as close as two people could be.  She was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church.  She lived in Richmond most of her life.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
