Betty Francisco Browne, 75, of Richmond, MO, formerly of Wichita, KS, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, MO.
Betty was born May 27, 1943, in Kansas City,, the daughter of Dr. Clarence LeRoy "C.L." and Lois Ann (Hastings) Francisco. She was united in marriage to Dr. David Bronson Browne of Wichita, KS, on June 24, 1967.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband. Survivors include daughter, Amy (Browne) Hogan and husband Brad of Richmond, MO; son, Michael David Browne and wife Emily of Memphis, TN; and three sisters: Joanne Francisco of Kansas City, MO, Carole Sue Francisco Prescott of Bar Harbor, ME, and Patricia Weakley and husband Jerry of Overland Park, KS.
Betty was reared and educated in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO, and graduated from Southwest High School. After high school, she attended Kansas State University, where she met her husband and earned her Bachelor's degree. After their marriage, her husband served as a Captain and veterinarian in the US Army, and they lived in various locations. They eventually settled in Wichita, KS, where Betty was the founding director of East Heights United Methodist Church Preschool. This would be her career for over 20 years. She also served as housemother for Tri Delta Sorority at Wichita State University. Betty was a lifelong Methodist and very active member of each Methodist church to which she belonged. She wrote curriculum for the United Methodist Church, served as a Stephen Minister, and participated in numerous other volunteer activities. She was a pillar of faith and disciple through her actions.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church Bright Ideas Preschool or the church's general fund. Contributions may be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St. - P.O. Box 190, Richmond, 64085.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the Richmond United Methodist Church, with visitation to begin at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will be at a later date by the family in Andover Cemetery in Andover, KS. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements.
