Betty Sue Edgar, 75, of Richmond died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Betty was born on October 22, 1946, in Richmond the daughter of Albert E. and Florence Louise (Rogers) Leach. She was united in marriage to Warren Jay "Jay Bird" Edgar of Richmond on February 11, 1965, he preceded her in death on October 1, 2001.

Survivors include: son, Jeff Jay Edgar of Richmond; daughter, Renell (Derek) Klein of Richmond; two grandchildren, Derek Klein, Jr. and Nicolas Ray (Kimberly) Klein; three brothers, James "Jimmy" (Bonnie) Leach of Hardin, Billy (Linda) Leach of Richmond and Donald Leach of Richmond; sister, Roberta Hockemeier of North Kansas City.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Carma Richardson.

Betty was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School in 1964. Betty was a housewife and homemaker while raising her family when her husband worked for the Ford Motor Company. After raising her children, she worked for the Price Candy factory in Richmond, for the Richmond School District, Linda's Floral in Richmond and for the past twenty years she was a friendly smile at our local Subway. Betty loved people and never met a stranger. She was a loving and kindhearted person. She enjoyed working out in the yard mowing and planting flowers she also loved to line dance.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
