BEVERLY "JOYCE" GRIGSBY
Beverly "Joyce" Grigsby, 77, of Dawsonville, GA died on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA.
Joyce was born on February 11, 1940 in Mount Leonard, MO to Joseph W. and Tena E. (Bacon) Houston.
Survivors include, five children: Tony Deatherage and wife, Tammy of Concordia, MO; Tina Behel and husband, Jeff of Dawsonville, GA; Troy Deatherage of Belton, MO; Trent Deatherage of Pleasant Hill, MO; Timothy Grigsby of Gainesville, GA; and step-son, Robert "Robbie" Grigsby and wife Deb of Higginsville, MO; a brother: John Houston and wife Patsy of Higginsville, MO; two sisters: Katy Linebarger and Judy Wrisinger, both of Richmond, MO; five grandchildren: Derrick Houston of Gainesville, GA, Holly Austin and husband, Jeremy of Cartersville, GA, Travis Houston of Gainesville, GA; Ryan Deatherage of Independence, MO; Corey Deatherage and wife McKenzie of Warrensburg, MO; two step-grandchildren, Noah Behel and wife, Rachel of Cumming, GA and Austin Behel of Phil Campbell, AL; three great-grandchildren: Zoe Houston, Danielle Houston and Elsie Austin all from Georgia, and Liam Deatherage from Independence, MO. Many nieces and nephews survive, as well as many other friends made in all walks of life.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Grigsby, and brothers: Jim Houston, Jerry Houston, and Tom Houston.
Joyce spent most of her adult years in Richmond, MO and was employed in an administrative capacity with the Richmond Police Department and County Sheriff's Department and eventually retired after 15 years from Walmart in 1995. She was a licensed real-estate agent for a short period of time and had a love of sewing and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She attended Etowah River Church of Christ in Dawsonville, GA and was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Kidney Foundation or to the Etowah River Church of Christ at 494 Etowah River Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
