Brenda Sue
Johnson
Jun 15, 1958 — Feb 10, 2025
Brenda Sue Johnson, 66, of Braymer, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025.
Brenda Sue was born the daughter of Robert Lewis O'Dell and Rose Ann Birdwell on June 15, 1958, in Carrollton, MO. She was united in marriage to Robert Granderson Johnson of Braymer on August 16, 1975, at the Norborne Baptist Church in Norborne, MO; he preceded her in death on March 17, 2016.
Survivors include: daughter, Leslie Ann Johnson of Kansas City; two brothers, Bobbie O'Dell of Cameron and Mike (Vicki) O'Dell of Stet; sister, Angela (Tim) Cringan of Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Marge (Eric) Pollard and Laurie Johnson (Chuck Anderson), both of Braymer; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Landon William Johnson, brother-in-law, Mike Johnson, nephew, Bradley Cringan, and great-niece, Winter Perrelli.
Brenda was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Stet High School in 1976. She had a heart of gold and an infectious smile that could light up any room. Known for her unwavering determination and strong work ethic, there was no challenge too great for Brenda—she tackled every task with grit and perseverance, often working just as hard, if not harder, than the men around her.
Brenda spent many years raising dogs, taking immense pride in every puppy she nurtured. She worked tirelessly alongside her husband on the Johnson Family Farm, whether tending the fields, milking cows, or laying tile for their business. No job was too big or too small—if something needed to be done, Brenda was there to see it through.
Above all, Brenda's greatest devotion was to her children, Landon and Leslie. She never hesitated to put their needs first, whether that meant driving Landon to practices—sometimes twice a day—while balancing farm work in between, or dedicating summers to coaching Leslie's softball team. No matter how busy life became, she always found time for the things she loved. Brenda enjoyed crafting, fishing, football, rock hunting, and traveling.
Those who knew Brenda often said she was the strongest woman they had ever met. Her resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Brenda Johnson Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
