C. MELVIN GILL
C. Melvin Gill, 96, of Richmond, MO, died at 2:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Melvin was born on May 16, 1913 in Caldwell County, MO to Joseph and Laura (Wright) Gill. He married Ethel Lucille Sheets of Ray County, MO on June 6, 1936; she preceded him in death on March 15, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Frances Gill of Richmond; one son-in-law and his wife, Stuart and June Sharp of Richmond; one brother and sister-in law, Ray and Lucille Gill of Richmond; one sister-in-law Hallie Gill of Parrish, FL; four grandchildren, Karen and Bob Stewart, Marsha and David Tyrrell, Cathy and Mike Moore and Connie and Loren Brenton; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Melvin was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Gill; one daughter, Martha Faye Sharp; one brother, Wesley Gill; and one sister, who preceded in infancy.
Mr. Gill was a farmer for over 75 years. He lived most of his life in the Richmond area. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for over 50 years. His favorite hobby was photography.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO.
