CALVIN COOLIDGE STEPHENS
Calvin C. Stephens, 84, of Richmond, MO and formerly of Independence, MO, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:47: p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Calvin was born July 3, 1925 in Tellico Plains, TN to Rufus and Ella Mae (Rodgers) Stephens. He married Hilda Louise Harms of Lincoln, MO on January 29, 1946; she preceded him in death on December 11, 2006.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Jan Stephens of Camden, MO; 3 grandchildren, Travis, Heather and Auburne; and one great grandson, Brandon.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son; George A. Stephens; and one brother, Cecil Stephens.
Calvin was an insurance salesman for the Prudential Insurance Company, he retired in 1984. Calvin lived and worked in Independence until moving to the Richmond area in 2004. Calvin served as president of the insurance union for many years. Calvin was a member of the Christian Fellowship Ministry Church in Richmond. Calvin served his country in WW II as a Fireman in the Merchant Marines.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 10:00 a.m at the Christian Fellowship Ministry Church, north of Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery on Holmes St. in Kansas City, MO. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
