CARL HUBBELL "SONNY" TAYLOR

Carl Hubbell "Sonny" Taylor, 82, of Richmond, MO died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home.

Sonny was born on April 8, 1934 in Dockery, MO to Leon Rice and Marianna (Hubbell) Taylor. He married Norma Sue "Susie" Taylor of Richmond on October 5, 1957. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2005.

Survivors include; one son, Carl Taylor of Richmond; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jayne and Darroll Ruark of Oskaloosa, IA and Stacey and Eddie Cox of Richmond; and four grandchildren, Eddie Cox, Taylor Cox, Dillon Ruark, D.J. Ruark and Jacob Ruark.

In addition to his parents and wife, Sonny was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Sue Taylor who died in infancy; and one sister, Nancy Sue Mosser.

Sonny was a farmer.  He also worked for Allis-Chalmers in Kansas City for several years before retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #57. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Hardin American Legion Post. Sonny was the sexton for the Hickory Grove Cemetery for over 50 years. He lived most of his life in the Hickory Grove area. Sonny was a member of the Millville United Methodist Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with a masonic service at 5:45 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hickory Grove Cemetery north of Richmond.
