CARL J. SWAFFORD

Carl J. Swafford, 70, of Rayville, MO, passed away March 1, 2010, at his daughter's home in Flowery Branch, GA, after a brief illness.
Carl was born Feb. 3, 1940 in Richmond, MO, the son of Carl E. Swafford and Francis Norris Swafford. He married Karen Sue Swafford on June 30, 1959; in Lexington, MO; she survives of the home in Rayville.
He is also survived by a son, Kenton Dean Swafford of Richmond; a daughter, Carla Sue Swafford Young and husband, Richard of Flowery Branch, GA; three grandchildren, Jill Friends and husband, Nathan, Caleb Rumbaugh and wife, Cory, and Ben Rumbaugh of Flowery Branch; five great-grandchildren, Kali, Neva, and Carlie Friends, and Lane and Noah Rumbaugh; one brother, Donald Swafford and wife, Beverly; two sisters, Audrey Brown and husband, Mike, and Mary Reid; one sister-in law Sharon Swafford; and several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth E. Swafford.
Carl was a member of the Old Union Christian Union Church. He previously had served for 20 years on the Ideal Industries Workshop Board. He presently was a member of the Ray County Fellowship Board.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ideal Industries Workshop, or Old Union Christian Union church.



Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2:30 pm at the Old Union Christian Union Church near Lawson, MO. Visitation will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be in Crowley Cemetery near Rayville, MO.
