Carolyn Sue Clevenger, age 80, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away at her home on the evening of Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Carolyn was born the daughter of Woodrow and Mary Elizabeth (Orr) Basham Crist on March 29, 1941, in Cowgill, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Clay Dean Clevenger on January 24, 1960, in Laclede, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2015. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Braymer, Braymer, Missouri, since being baptized there in 1969. For all her life she lived in the Braymer-Cowgill area, graduating from Braymer C-4 Highschool in 1959. Carolyn (known as Granny) was a homemaker and loved serving her family, church, and community. She served as a board member for the Golden Age Nursing home for 38 years and served as Clerk for Davis Township since April of 1987. Carolyn taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was a Women's Missionary Unit (WMU) member and President for many years. She served her church in many capacities which included being a teacher at VBS, serving in Nursery, and being willing to bake cookies or pies at any time. Carolyn had a passion for flowers. In the summer you could always find her outside mowing the yard, hoeing in the garden, and cleaning out flower beds. Granny enjoyed keeping up with kids, grandkids, great grandkids as well as Braymer classmates. Survivors include one son, Bobby Clay Clevenger and wife Suzann of Braymer, Missouri; two daughters, Tomme Sue Feil of Braymer, Missouri, and Dedra Lee Smith and husband Tom of Braymer, Missouri; 13 grandchild: Amanda Jill Sneed (Brandon), Ryan Clay Clevenger (Jamie), Steven Dean Clevenger, Travis Michael Smith (Hope), Marshall Thomas Smith (Whitney), Daniel Lee Smith (Cassie), Jordan Dean Smith (Erica), Garland Joseph Nelson, Joni Sue McCoy (Jakob), Victoria Sue Smith, Angelica Kaitlyn Smith, Jonathan Elliott Feil, and Jenna Louise Feil; 18 great grandchildren; one brother Tom Basham and Wife Nancy of Kearney, Missouri; one sister, Kay Swan of Hayward, California; sister in law, Regena Curnow (Norman) of Breckinridge, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Carl: and one great grandchild Carson Clay Clevenger.   The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either First Baptist Church or Golden Age Nursing Home, both of Braymer.  Memorial contributions can be dropped off or mailed to in care of the family, to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main – P. O. Box 190, Richmond, 64085.  Funeral services with visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Braymer.  Inurnment will be at a later date.
