DR. CHARLES T. RILEY, JR, M.D.
Dr. Charles T. Riley, Jr., M.D., 83, of Richmond, MO died Monday, October 28, 2013 at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Mo.
"Doc" was born on October 11, 1930 in Bassett, NE to Charles T. and Mary (VanNorman) Riley, Sr. He married Betty Jo Wilson of Protem, MO on August 3, 1951. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; 1 son, Charles A. Riley of Carrollton, MO, 1 daughter, Anita Jo Wiggins of Nashville, TN, 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Halley and Alex Stagman, Abby Wiggins, Blake and Amanda Riley, Reid Riley, Spencer Riley, 3 great-grandchildren, Jenny Grace Riley, Faith Ann Riley and Charles Asa Riley.
In addition to his parents," Doc" was preceded in death by 1 brother, Edward N. Riley, 2 sisters, Lola Henderson, Mauriel Maddison and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer "Jenny" Riley.
"Doc "was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon (MO) High School. He received a B.S. degree in chemistry from SMS. He received a B.S. degree in medicine from the University of Missouri. He received his doctorate degree in medicine from the University of Missouri in 1957, which was the first four year doctorate class. He was a United States Army Veteran. He moved to Richmond, MO in 1960. He later set up his private practice, known as the Richmond Clinic, in 1968, and continued to practice medicine until he retired in 1993. "Doc "served on the Ray County and Richmond School Board for 16 years, serving as president for 13 years. He was an Eagle Scout with 3 palms and was an honorary Warrior of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He served on the bank board of Bank of America for several years. He served on the University of Missouri Curators Advisory Committee for 5 years. He was a preceptor for the University of Missouri Medical School of Columbia and U.M.K.C. He was an Instructor at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. "Doc "was a member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member of the Shirkey Golf Club. He was a member of the Jefferson Club at the University of Missouri. He was a member of the American Medical Association Malpractice Board. He was president of the Ray County Medical Society for 3 years and he was Chief of Staff at Ray County Memorial Hospital.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the University of Missouri School of Medicine Class of 1957 Scholorship Fund. Gifts may be sent to University of Missouri Development, One Hospital Drive, DC205.00, Columbia, Mo 65212.


Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Richmond United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville, MO at a later date.
