Charles Lloyd Simmons, 80, of Richmond died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the North Care Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Charles was born on December 17, 1937 in Norborne, to Benjamin Franklin and Eudora Olivia (Abbott) Simmons.  He married Esther E. Waller of Camden, on June 6, 1959. She survives of the home.

Survivors include; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debi and Bucky Lee of Richmond and Susan and Chris Hansen of Overland Park, KS; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Aaron and Amy Lee, Kristen and Landon Dickey, Courtney and Matt Graham and Lauren Hansen; and two great-grandchildren, Caidric Dickey and Ariel Lee.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmore, Albert, Richard, Bob and Don; and five sisters, Marguerite, Katherine, Rosemary, Imogene and Nancy.

Charles graduated from the Norborne High School and then attended Line and Type School at University of Missouri in Columbia.  He worked as a pressman first for the Richmond News for 10 years and then for Townsend Communication in Kansas City for 38 years until he retired.  He was of the Methodist faith. He lived in Richmond since 1958.  He loved yardwork, gardening and spending time with his family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the North Care Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
