David Earl
Case
Oct 3, 1946 — Jul 13, 2024
Norborne
David Earl Case, 77 years old, died peacefully at his home near Stet Missouri on July 13, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Burr Case, Jr. and Eva Marie (Harper) Case, and Sister in laws Joy (Vandivort) Case, and Marsha (Brown) Allen. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Allen) Case, their children Michelle (Shannon) Hall and Michael (Jenni) Case, and a brother Larry Case. Grandchildren are Hannah, Hunter, Harrison and Holly Hall, and Grady, Baron and Cassidy Case. Other surviving family include Jeff (Chanda) Case, Rebecca (Mike) Carter, Matthew (Rebecca) Case, Robert Allen, Jan (Dan) Elliott and families.
David was born on October 3, 1946. He was raised on a small livestock and crop farm where he learned by doing many tasks. When he was young, he and his brother were in charge of such things as making sure the coal buckets were filled and placed on the back porch, and filling the wood box in the winter. In the summer it was pulling weeds from the garden and other chores. As with any farm kid, growing older met more responsibility. This turned into feeding and watering the livestock, driving tractors and tilling the fields. Growing hay and putting hay bales in the barn was aways a hot job in the summer, but David did his part. He developed his strong work ethic from his upbringing and also shaped his Christianity through his youth. David was a member of the Union Baptist church.
During his high school days he was enrolled in the Vocational Agriculture Classes and was a member of the FFA. He had many achievements in FFA including being the President of the Stet FFA Chapter. He graduated high school in 1964.
After graduation from high school, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and ultimately decided that was not for him. So, he went back to the farm and became a partner with his dad in the farming operation. That included dairy production, beef cattle, market hogs, corn, soybeans and hay. He focused on raising market hogs and was successful through the '70's and '80's. Eventually, the hog market dropped to where pig production was not profitable. He decided to get out of the hog market and go to work in a factory job, Wire Rope Corporation of America, in Chillicothe. He continued to row crop and cattle farm along with working at WRCA.
His time at college offered the opportunity of meeting Sharon Allen. They fell in love and were married October 11, 1970. They had 2 children, Michelle and Mike. Both are married and have children of their own.
David retired in January 2012. He decided to rent the farm and he worked for the renter helping him. He really enjoyed that time in his life, as he was able to work with modern farm equipment and not have to worry about the risk of farming on his own. That was impacted by a stroke in early 2013, and he chose to fully retire at that time. His wife, Sharon, looked after him until his death.
David is remembered as being hard-working, patient, loving, kind, quiet, supportive, fun-natured and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either H.E.L.P. Services of Carroll County or the KU Endowment Cancer Research. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
