David "Dave" Lee Ross, 74, of Richmond passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at KU Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kansas. Dave was born on January 7, 1949, in Kansas City, MO, the son of William Lee and Mary Virginia (Williams) Ross. He was first united in marriage to Wanda Marie Proffitt of Camden, on August 31, 1967; She preceded him in death on January 2, 1988. He later married Barbara Dale Murphy of Richmond on August 28, 1993; she survives of the home. Additional survivors include: son, Kent Lee (Amie) Ross of Richmond; daughter, Joani (Jon Thoreson) Ross of Richmond; step-daughter, Mary Dodson of Grain Valley; five grandchildren, Jordan (Aaron) Goodman, Brooke Ross, Julia Dodson, Carson Dodson, Calista Hinojos; one great-grandson, Grayson Goodman and one great-grandson Bowen Goodman, on the way; his brother, Curtis (Michelle) Ross of Kearney also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife. Dave was reared and educated in the area of his birth. He was a graduate of Orrick High School in 1967. He was in the trucking business for over 30 years. Dave was a proud member of Teamsters Union Local #41. He was also an auctioneer for 20 plus years. After he retired, most recently, he was a well-known salesman at Swafford's Ford for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, especially crappie fishing. He could be a little bit ornery and was known to be a prankster at times. He enjoyed spending time at BP with his buddies for coffee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond. Most of all Dave was very proud of all his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
