DAVID DOUGLAS "PHRED" CROOKS

David Douglas "Phred" Crooks, 41, of Richmond, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

David was born on September 7, 1977 in Des Moines, IA the son of Douglas Ray and Janet Lea (Hensley) Crooks.  He was first married to Mariah Sue Garner of Richmond on September 30, 1997; to this union their daughter Reannon was born.  He was then united with Christa McMullen of Richmond and to this union their daughter Jillian was born.

Survivors include: his mother, Janet Hensley (Les McCollum) of Richmond; his father, Douglas Crooks (Debby Stoddard) of Columbus Junction, IA; two daughters: Reannon Crooks of Stroud, OK and Jillian Crooks of Lexington, Mo; three sisters: Jennifer Lindley (Jeff) of Richmond, Amy Roberts (Randy Covey) of Richmond and Sara Thomas of Indianola, IA; paternal grandmother, Reva Crooks of Corydon, IA and maternal grandmother, Nell Hensley of Indianola, IA and his longtime companion, Keni Williams of Richmond.  He was preceded in death by both his grandfathers.

David grew up in Iowa and moved to Richmond when he was 16 years old and graduate from Richmond High School in 1996.  After high school, David worked as a caregiver at Higginsville Habilitation and Western Missouri Mental Health.  His whole life was about helping others.  He was always there for his friends and family, no matter when - no matter what.  He was best known for his ability to make people laugh, even when they didn't want too.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
