DAYTON JUNIOR ELLIS
Dayton Junior Ellis, 87, of Hardin, MO died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO, with his loving daughter and granddaughter by his side.
Dayton was born on May 25, 1926 in Norborne, MO to Dayton Smith and Anna Marie (Lynn) Ellis. He married Georgianne Aumiller of Richmond, MO on May 16, 1948; she survives of the home.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Peggy Ellis of Norborne, MO and Gene and Mary Beth Ellis of Lenexa, KS; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and David Kersten of Cypress, TX; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Dayton was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Ann Dickinson; and two brothers, Dorsey Lee Ellis and Smith Knowlton Ellis, who died in infancy.
Dayton was a heavy equipment operator in the area for over 40 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #101, he also farmed. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Hardin American Legion. Dayton was a member of the Hardin Central School Board for 6 years, the Hardin Rural Fire Association for 31 years, the Antioch Cemetery Board and the Hardin First Baptist Church. He had lived in the Hardin and Norborne area most of his life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Antioch Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St., Richmond, MO 64085. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery north of Norborne where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. On line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuenralhome.com
