DONALD LEE COX, SR.

Donald Lee Cox Sr., 61, of Independence, MO, died at 12:50 a.m., December 8, 2010 at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.
Donald was born on June 19, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to Darrell D. and Fern Irene (Smart) Cox. He married Dana D. Trussell of Independence, MO on April 5, 1982. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steven Cox of Higginsville, MO, Darrell J. and Shannon Cox of Blue Springs, MO, three daughters, Roxanna Cox and her husband, Damon Thompson of Independence, MO, Crystal Cox and her husband, Marcus Davis of Odessa, MO, Irene Cox anad her husband, Billy Crowe of Blue Springs, MO, two brothers and one sister-in-law, William J. Cox of Independence, MO, John W. and Beverly Cox of Kansas City, MO, two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wanda Sue and John Guffey of Archie, MO, Barbara E. and Jim Flickinger of Elko, NV, thirty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one son, Donald Lee Cox, Jr.
Donald was a self-employed musician. He played bass guitar for the band, Shelter. He was a member of the Sheffield Family Life Center Church. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City, MO area.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
