Obituary

Donald "Don" Edward Brown, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2024  at his home in Parrish, Florida.  Don was born February 15, 1942.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Brown; his mother, Helen (Tebor) Brown Shelton; his step-father, David (Tore) Shelton; and his son, David Brown.  He was united in marriage to Lynda Gill of Richmond, Missouri, on October 22, 1961.  They were married for 62 years; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Meghan (Eric) Carter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Katie Brown of Bon Aqua, Tennessee; Hunter (Nong) Brown of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Sydney Brown of Hellertown, Pennsylvania.  One sister, Winona Brown, of Richmond; two nieces, Gena Shade of Kansas City, and Mendy Malott (Russ) of Richmond; two nephews, Robby Gross of Richmond, and Stephen Brown of Richmond.

Don graduated from Richmond High School and worked for several years at Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo, Missouri.  He later enjoyed a 30-year career with Lumbermen's Underwriting Alliance of Boca Raton, Florida, and lived and worked in Wausau, Wisconsin, Boca Raton, Florida, and Little Rock, Arkansas, before retiring from his position as Great Lakes Regional Underwriting Manager in 2001.  After several years in Little Rock, he relocated to Florida to assist in the start-up of a new insurance company in St. Petersburg, Florida, SUNZ Insurance.  At that time, he moved to Parrish, Florida, and he and Lynda brought her mother, Hallie Gill, to live with them there.

While living in Boca Raton, Don was instrumental in planting a new church, West Boca Presbyterian Church (PCA), and was ordained as an elder.  He was involved in The Bible Church of Little Rock, Arkansas, as a choir member and Bible leader.  In Parrish, he attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (PCA) and later the First Baptist Church of Palmetto, Florida.  He loved his Heavenly Father and spent many hours reading and studying God's Word.  He stepped into Heaven with great faith and anticipation of spending eternity worshiping and praising Jesus.

Don loved fishing, hunting, and being with his wife, son, and grandchildren.  He had a huge generous heart and there was always a story to be told of his life experiences.  He loved his family and had many friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the  Long View Ranch,  190 Bledsoe Hollow Lane, Mosheim TN 37818, note David and Debbie Brown Memorial Trust.
