Don was born on November 11, 1936, in Richmond, the son of Johnnie L. and Mary Frances (Hayes) Holloway.  He was united in marriage to Patty Louise Bunch of Richmond on September 26, 1959; she preceded him in death on November 6, 2019.

Survivors include: his three children: Karen L. Johnston of Richmond, Terry (Melissa) Holloway of Richmond, and Kathy D. Higgins (Gabrielle Kirkpatrick) of Indianola, IA; seven grandchildren: Nathan (Tara) Quick, Katie (Chris) Bushong, Jeremy (Misti) Holloway, Madison Holloway, Hunter Holloway, Amber (Ross) Carner, and Blake Higgins; 11 great-grandchildren: Brook (Cody) Still, Kennedy Quick, Adia Noble, Avarie Noble, Grayson Quick, Gavin Quick, Mason Bushong, Dayton (Kaili) Bushong, Maddox Holloway, Evelyn Carner, and Rhett Carner; six great-great-grandchildren: Harper Still, Maverick Still, Hendrick Kirkpatrick, Hadley Kirkpatrick, Harrison Kirkpatrick, and one on-the-way, Jettsyn James Bushong; brother, Melvin G. In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold V. Holloway, Johnnie L. Holloway, Jr., Lester E. Holloway, and Gary D. Holloway, sister, Marie Holloway-Bates, and son-in-law, Jim Johnston.

Don was raised and educated in the area of his birth. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Upon returning home from military service, he began working as a postal carrier before starting his long-term career with Ford Motor Company.  Don dedicated more than 30 years of service to Ford and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Local #249.

In his free time, Don enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and time spent with those he loved most.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds on the course with family and friends.  He also cherished time spent at Lake Pomme de Terre, where he loved boating, tubing, and making memories at the lake with his grandchildren and family.  Don also enjoyed a good game of pitch and the camaraderie that came with it.  He enjoyed his outings to Daddy's 10-13 Diner.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  We find comfort in knowing dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (focused on prostate cancer).  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
