DOROTHY JEAN GOOSTREE
Dorothy Jean Goostree, 77, of Richmond, MO, and formerly of Lexington, MO, died at 9:20 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2010 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Dorothy was born January 3, 1933 in Lexington to Foy Glenn and Mary (Brown) Helm. She married Winfred "Windy" Goostree on November 15, 1958; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Michael D. Goostree and his wife, Maggie of St.Petersburg , FL; and one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. and Greg Younger of O'Fallon, MO; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Sharon Helm of Kansas City, KS and John and Jean Helm of Lexington; two sisters, Mary Judd of Hilo, Hawaii and Pam Duffett of Blue Springs, MO; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Bersano of Richmond; four grandchildren, Jennifer Starkebaum and her husband, Brandon, Ciara Younger, Chad Younger and Austin Wilson; and one great-grandson, Braylon Starkebaum.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Helm; one sister, Gerri Bersano; and one brother-in-law, Bob Duffett.
Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Lexington High School. She was the owner and operator of the Mode-O-Day clothing store in Lexington, and also was a bookkeeper for Goostree Hauling for several years. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose and had multiple offices including Deputy Grand Regeant for the state of Missouri. She had lived most of her life in Lexington .She lived in O'Fallon, MO for 9 years before moving to Richmond in 2010. She was a home maker. She was a member of the Morning Star Church in O'Fallon.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vitas Hospice in Richmond, MO.
Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22, from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Private family graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lexington, MO. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
