DOROTHY SANDY KASSEN

Dorothy Sandy Kassen, 87, of Norborne, MO, died at 9:08 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at her home in Norborne, MO.
Dorothy was born on May 10, 1924 near the Rockingham Community to Rawley and Angie (Keim) Sandy. She married Bernard W. Kassen of Norborne, MO on October 19, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1985.
Survivors include; two sons, David Kassen of Norborne, MO, Kirby Kassen of Terrell, TX, five daughters, Cathy Cleary of Norborne, MO, Kim Kassen of Overland Park, KS, Pam Kassen of Los Angeles, CA, Amy Royston and her husband, Phil of Overland Park, KS, one brother, Elvin Sandy and his wife, Joann of Richmond, MO, two sisters, Genevieve Herring of Norborne, MO, Imogene Buchanan of Richmond, MO, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Bob Hart of Cherokee, IA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by, one daughter, Susan Hart, two brothers, Gerald Sandy and Stanley Sandy. One granddaughter also preceded her in death, Catherine Collin Cleary.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, MO. She had lived in the Norborne area most of life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to H.E.L.P. services of Carrollton, Opportunity Enterprise in Carrollton or to the Donor's choice.


Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne, where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery.
