DOROTHY MARIE ARNOLD

Dorothy Marie Arnold, 89, of Orrick, MO died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Excelsior Springs Hospital Convalescent Center in Excelsior Springs, MO.

Dorothy was born on February 9, 1928 in Peculiar, MO to William John and Emma Venita (Knudsen) Dahm. She married Paul Edward Arnold of Orrick on August 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2014.

Survivors include; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Harold and Beth Arnold of St. Joseph, MO and Howard and Donna Arnold of West Lafayette, IN; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Katherine and Larry Hudlemeyer of Rapid City, SD and Joyce and Randy Finley of Orrick; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandsons.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Wagenblast; and one granddaughter, Laura Finley.

Dorothy taught in a one room school house after High School until she got married. Throughout her life, Dorothy was a dedicated Baptist where she taught Sunday school into her 80's and lead the Women's Missionary Union. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing, loved her family and was a prolific quilter. Dorothy and her husband farmed together, and they were seldom ever apart.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A private burial will be in the Union Cemetery west of Orrick at a later date.
