DOROTHY LEE VANDIVER


Dorothy Lee Vandiver, 79, of Liberty, MO formerly of Orrick, MO, died at 7:08 a.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO.
Dorothy was born on July 15, 1931 in Camden, MO to John M. and Nadine (McCoy) Middleton. She married Roy Dean "Dag" Vandiver of Camden, MO on December 3, 1948; they were married for 33 years.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa and Brian Thomas of Kearney, MO and Jackie Vandiver of the home; one brother, John D. Middleton of Independence, MO; four grandchildren and their spouses, Dana and Todd Bishop, Andrea and Parker Byron, Blake Thomas and Austin Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, Kylie, Tyler and Allyson; and one daughter-in-law, Karen Vandiver of Orrick also survives.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Michael Dean Vandiver; one daughter, Keri Olene Vandiver who died in infancy; and one sister, Olene Henderson.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a Methodist. She had lived in the Camden and Orrick areas most of her life before moving to Liberty in 1981. She was an Administrative Assistant for Elenz Electric in Liberty for 3 years, and also for Thomas Disposal Service for 10 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Richmond Shrinetts.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Donor's Choice.



Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond where the Order of Eastern Star will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in the South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO. Thurman Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
