Dortha Lee Wilson, 85, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Dortha was born on March 26, 1939, in Tuskahoma, OK, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Bost) Hickman.  She was united in marriage to Alford Louis Wilson of Alpine, AZ, on January 14, 1956; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: sister, Edna (Roy) Laureles of Coleman, TX; special friend, Tracey Parkes of Richmond; many nieces, nephews, and loving cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Johnny Hickman and Donald Hickman, and four sisters, Delphia Sweeten, Thelma "Bobbie" Johnson, Bonnie Hutcherson, and Ruth O'Neal.

Dortha was raised and educated in Arizona.  She met her husband while he was working at a timber sawmill in the White Mountains in Arizona.  He knew at first glance that he was going to marry her.  They married and moved to Missouri.  They first lived in the Kansas City area, where she worked for a garment factory, then as housekeeping manager for Ramada Inn.  In 1989, they moved to the Richmond area, where she continued to work for Ramada Inn.  She would later work for Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, until she retired.  She and her husband enjoyed growing a big garden and canning the fruits of their labor to share with their family.  They also enjoyed mushroom hunting and taking rides in their golf carts for their dogs to get some exercise around their property.  She was a member of the Dockery Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Richmond.  Please remember to share your memories of Dortha with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
