Dwight Wayne Pettus, 78, of Orrick, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Liberty Hospital.

Dwight was born on December 16, 1945, in Kansas City, the son of Glenn Thomas and Alwilda (Thompson) Pettus.

Survivors include: significant other, Delorise Bush of Richmond; brother, Don Pettus of Lee's Summit; sister, Judith (Roger) Hunt of Leawood, KS; two nephews, Craig A. (Bea) Pettus of Orrick and Greg Hunt of Prairie Village, KS; niece, Kelly (Joseph) Miller of Lenexa, KS; several great-nephews and nieces also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Todd Kendall Pettus, and sister-in-law, Carol Ann Pettus.

Dwight was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School.  After high school, he attended college in Warrensburg, then MU in Columbia.  Dwight proudly served his country in the United State Air Force, then returned to the family farm.  He was a member of Todd's Chapel Church, west of Richmond.  Dwight was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Royals and Chiefs.  He loved to fish and travel, especially with his family; together they had been on several cruises.  Dwight also enjoyed time spent with his companion, Deloris.
