Elizabeth Josephine
Miller
Jul 12, 1929 — Jun 21, 2018
Elizabeth Josephine Miller, 88, of Hardin, MO and formerly of Kansas City, KS died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.
Elizabeth was born on July 12, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Manuel and Elizabeth (Arevalo) Chevillon.
Survivors include; two sons, Mark Borton and his wife, Dana of Topeka, KS and Brian Borton of Peoria, AZ; three daughters, Allena Hutcheson and her husband, Memphis, TN, Julie Allen and her husband, Jimi Lovvorn of North Kansas City and Benecia Fowler and her husband, Jerry of Hardin, MO; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 18 great great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by one sister, Purita Ferrer.
During her lifetime she was an extremely multifaceted individual. She was an artist of all mediums. Within that she became a Master Certified Goldsmith, Silversmith, Clock Repairer and Gemologist. During the time she worked in plastics, she sold those nick-knacks made of "cooking crystals" and plastic "resin" to many of the tourist sites in Florida where she lived. Some of these wares were "Grape" clusters and "Grape" lamps. One of the last things that she made while in Florida was a large macramé wall hanging that Disney commissioned her to make for them. She had a great love of music, founding the Big Band Era Club in Orlando, FL and she always had an organ in the house which she played.
After she was divorced in 1972, she raised the four of us "Borton Children" by herself. She went into hoteling to be able to earn a living for us all and worked her way up from Front Desk Clerk to Hotel Manager of some medium-upscale hotels there in Florida and then in Kansas City. Once we all were fledged, she got out of hoteling, went back to Silver Smithing, and then became a Professional Clown. She and members of the Clowns of Mid America, performed with the Ringling Brothers clowns in a skit at one of their stops in Kansas City. While working as a professional clown she did face painting, balloon animals, etc, and she had a little three legged dog that was a very cute part of her act. She was also active working and volunteering with Project Ayuda in Kansas City, KS. She was of the Catholic faith.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ray County Animal Shelter.
