Obituary

Ellwood Harley "Andy" Andrews, Sr., 88, of Norborne, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at Kansas City VA Medical Center.

Andy was born on June 11, 1932, in Mitchellsville, NY, the son of Clyde and Neva (Silliman) Andrews.  He was united in marriage to Patricia Hyer of Savona, NY, on December 8, 1951; she preceded him in death on March 7, 1985.

Survivors include: son, Ellwood H. (Gayle) Andrews, Jr. of Rayville, MO; daughters, Pamela M. (Dale) Anderson of Norborne, MO, Deborah A. (Curtis) Kruse of Norborne, MO, and Christina M. (Charles) Drake of Campbell, NY; 9 grandchildren: Stacey, Brandy, April, Eric, Charles, Destiny, Patricia, Joshua, and Rebecca; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbur Andrews of Valdese, NC; two sisters, Augusta Draper of Mitchellsville and June Checon of Texas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Andrews, Gregory M. Andrews, and many brothers and sisters.

Andy was reared and educated in Mitchellsville, NY.  He was a member of the Norborne Lion's Club.  Andy was a Sergeant first class for the United States Army and a Korean War Veteran, where he received the Purple Heart Medal.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Norborne First Baptist Chruch.  They can be left at or mailed to Thruman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
