Elsie "Marie" Fletcher
Marie went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2016 in Arlington, Texas. She was born December 20, 1920 near Lamar, Colorado. She married Wilbur Fletcher of Orrick, Missouri September 10, 1943. They had two sons, Matthew Jay and James Michael. As a Navy family they enjoyed living in Bermuda, Ecuador, and San Diego as well as many other military assignments before retiring to Orrick. Marie was a teacher and reading specialist in San Diego. She loved to travel, sew and read. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, Texas for the last five years and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Orrick for over thirty years where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union and worked with the Samaritans Shoebox ministry each year.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Wilbur Fletcher, her brother, Edwin (Bud) James, and a grandson, Paul Fletcher. She is survived by sons James Michael Fletcher and wife Gayla of Azle, Texas, and Matthew Jay Fletcher and wife, Dee of Chugiak, Alaska, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, as well as her sister Doris Porter, of Milwaukie, Oregon.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO. Thurman Funeral Home of Richmond is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences maybe left to the family at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
