EMIL EUGENE LOYD
Emil Eugene Loyd, 90, of Richmond, MO died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Emil was born on December 27, 1924 in Rayville, MO to James W. and Lora (McGaugh) Loyd. He married Norma C. Cook of Knoxville, MO on December 6, 1946. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one sister, Mary K. Gaulden of Richmond; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Emil was preceded in death by one son, Charles Lester Loyd who died in infancy; two nephews, L.J. Sanders and Lindell Forson; and two nieces, Sandra Sanders and Delores Martin.
Emil was a United States Army veteran of WWII where he was a staff sergeant, receiving a bronze star. He was a member of the American Legion Post #237 in Richmond. Emil was a foreman for the Gates and Avesco Corporation in Excelsior Springs, MO for several years. He was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. He was a lifelong Ray County resident.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. On line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
