Evelyn Yvonne Hessenflow, 78, of Henrietta, MO, died at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014, at her home.
Evelyn was born November 24, 1935 in Henrietta to Willie Henry and Mable Alice (Teegarden) Abbott. She married Roy Maneford Hessenflow of Henrietta on January 12, 1961; he preceded her in death on July 6, 2010.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jeanetta Hessenflow of Hardin, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and John Bakos of Higginsville, MO and Tammy and David Hughes of Richmond; five grandchildren, Adrienne and Steve McAtee, Travis and Erin Hessenflow, Chad and Jennie Hessenflow, Nick Hughes, Adam Bakos and Lisa Atkins-Douglas; and three great-grandsons, Brady McAtee, Cooper Hessenflow and Maverick Hessenflow.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Ratliff; four brothers, Ernie Abbott, Marvin Abbott, Kenneth Abbott and Bobby Abbott; and one sister, Mable Louise Abbott, who died in infancy.
Evelyn was a 1953 graduate of the Henrietta High School. She was a lifelong Henrietta resident. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Cox's Greenhouse for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of the Henrietta Baptist Church where she was the church organist for 42 years.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Oncology Department at North Kansas City Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a. m., at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO.
