FERN ELIZABETH NEWHAM

Fern Elizabeth Newham, 94, of Hardin, MO, died at 4:25 a.m., on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, MO.
Mrs. Newham was born September 30, 1915 in Carrollton, MO to Edwin J. and Mary "Mollie" (Myers) Early. She married Wendell C. Newham of the Rockingham community on July 15, 1944; he preceded her in death on January 3, 2001.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob Ed and Carol Newham of Stet, MO and Kent C. and Debbie Newham of Hardin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beth Newham of Independence, MO, Linda S. and Richard Vansandt of Independence, and Sandy and Lonny McIntyre of Hardin; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Edwin Early; and one sister, Leta Mae Jeffers.
Mrs. Newham had lived in the Rockingham and Hardin area all of her life. She was a lifetime member of the Rockingham Church of the Brethren. She attended McPherson College.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wakenda Cemetery.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Wakenda Cemetery, Hardin, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
