Obituary

Floyd Dale Bratton, Sr., 83, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at his home.

Floyd was born on September 10, 1937, in Knob Noster, the son of Cecil Southern and Lorena Elizabeth (Calvert) Bratton.  He was united in marriage to Willene C. Walker of Hardin on October 16, 1959; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: son, Patrick S. Bratton of Richmond; three daughters: Stephanie (David) Isom of Fairfield, CA, Jacqueline Bratton of Liberty, and Mimi Danner of Liberty; five  grandchildren, Marcus Reed, Edward Danner, Jr., Amber Bratton, Mariel Danner, and Jessica Long; five great-grandchildren, Micaiah Reed, Reese Johnson, Ryland Johnson, Beau Minor, and Mirylah Reed; one brother, Cecil Lee Bratton of Knob Noster; two sisters, Sally Miller of Kansas City and Joyce Hanner of O'Fallon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Floyd Dale Bratton, Jr., three brothers, Bobby, William, and Milton Bratton; one sister, Julia Triplett.

Floyd was reared and educated in Sedalia and graduated from Lincoln-Hubbard High School.  Floyd worked at Lake City Arsenal for 35 years.  Over the years he had also worked for the Missouri Highway Department, Ferguson's Plastics Plant in Richmond, and as a custodian for the Richmond School District. He belonged to the John W. Carter Masonic Lodge in Richmond and St. John CME Church in Richmond.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Especially when it was his own family participating or local kids he knew.  He was a good family man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John CME Church in Richmond.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. John CME Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, with services to follow at 11:00 am.  Burial will be in Knob Noster Cemetery.
