Freddie Henry Imgarten, 90, of Braymer, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home.
Freddie was born on November 22, 1934, the son of Frederick Everett "Fred" and Thelma L. (Switzer) Imgarten. He was united in marriage to Freda Mae Wagner of Madison, IN, on October 2, 1954; she preceded him in death on September 1, 1988.
Survivors include: son, Fred E. Imgarten of Braymer; daughter, Thelma Jean Bennett of Blue Springs; six grandchildren: Christopher Moyer, Scott Moyer, Christina (Zach) Cline, Tabitha Bailey, Laurel (Ben) Farris, and Caleb Imgarten; 15 great-grandchildren; many other extended family and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Freddie was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Sue Branstetter, and his brother, Vernon D. Imgarten.
Freddie was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Stet High School. After high school, he began working as a traveling lineman, a job that eventually took him to Indiana, where he met his wife. The couple settled in Aurora, IN, while he worked for Indiana Public Service as a lineman. In 1967, Freddie and his family returned to Richmond, MO, to help his mother run the family farm following his father's passing. Later, he resumed his career as a lineman with Independence Power and Light, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
Freddie was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature and appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors. He especially loved coyote hunting with his friends in the area—a favorite pastime that brought him both adventure and camaraderie. He also enjoyed camping, shooting, and collecting guns, hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors and his independent spirit.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Missouri Department of Conservation. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
