FRIEDA RIMMER McGINNIS

Frieda Rimmer McGinnis, 92, of St. Joseph, MO, and formerly of the Richmond, MO area, died at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO.
Frieda was born on April 11, 1916 in Richmond, MO to George Thomas and Leota Belle (Denton) Rimmer. She married Bryant Elwood McGinnis of Richmond, MO on May 5, 1934; he preceded her in death on February 23, 1976.
Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Neil and Margaret Carroll McGinnis of Kansas City, MO; one daughter and one son-in-law, Melinda S. and The Rev. Robert Ganaway of San Antonio, TX; one brother and one sister-in-law, Paul Ashley and Virginia Rimmer; three grandchildren and their spouses, Erin and Jerry Dunivan, Mark and Angi Ganaway, Carolyn and Bobby Dowling; six great- grandchildren, Bradley, Cooper and Allyson Dunivan, Rynae and Drew Morris and Natalie Ganaway; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Debby and Jamie Martin, Susie and Jon Wilson. Frieda is also survived by her special friends, Rick and Pam Hope and family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frieda was preceded in death by one son, Larry Kent McGinnis, who died in infancy; two brothers, Arvle and "Hub" Rimmer; four sisters, Cleo Renfro, Thelma Harbaugh, DeEsta Wahlbrink and Dorothy Perry. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cherie Ganaway Morris.
Frieda was a member of the Brookdale Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, MO. She worked along side of Dr. Graham Revere in Richmond, MO, for over twenty years, delivering babies in the home, sometimes working on the barter system. Her family moved to St. Joseph, MO in 1956. She fulfilled a lifetime dream of becoming a L.P.N. in 1966, working for Dr. Rost and Dr. Mothershead. She was an avid bridge player.
The family would like to thank the management and staff of Carriage Square for the loving and kind care that was given to their loved one for the past four years, especially Jeremy, Kayla and Sarah.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery in Richmond, MO. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
