GENE EDWARD LILES

Gene Liles, 85, of Richmond, MO died at 6:50 a.m., on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Lexington Care Center in Lexington, MO.
Gene was born on October 5, 1925 in Richmond, MO to Virgil Lee and Lillian (Williams) Liles. He married Clara Rose Liles of Ray County, MO on August 12, 1949; she preceded him in death on December 1, 1997.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Rick and Reta Liles of Neosho, MO, Thomas and Donna Liles of Richmond; 5 grandchildren, Susan Gallagher, Shelly Palmer, Sherry Liles, Kenna Liles and April Harris; two step-grandchildren, John Johnson and Dalton Mollett; 15 great-grandchildren, Amber, Noah, Angela, Chloe, Austin, Madison, Creed, Justice, Jailen, Tommie, Kennade, Lyrick, Legend, Mallorie and Makayla.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter Susan Ann Liles who died in infancy.
Gene worked as a union carpenter for over 50 years in the Kansas City area until he retired. He was a member and past president of the Local Carpenters Union # 938. Gene had served his country during WWII in the Navy as a member of the Mighty Seabee's. He was a member of the Richmond V.F.W. He lived his life in Richmond and was of the Christian faith.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the donor's choice.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military honors to be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
