George Mansefield Ashley 88, a resident of Richmond, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Lee's Summit on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born on April 22, 1936, in Kansas City, MO, the son of George Gryder and Allie Gladys (Minick) Tippins Ashley of Minickville, MO west of Orrick,MO George was united in marriage to his school classmate Anna Lee Duffett on September 19,1958; after dating for three years, she survives of the home. To this union two daughters were born, Marie Annette on July 13, 1959, and Bonita Lynn on July 13, 1960.
Additional survivors include: daughter, Bonita (Kyle) Dunwoodie; grandsons, Loren Gene (Stephanie) Proffitt, Joseph Dane (Ashley) Dunwoodie; granddaughter, Megan Ashley Harbison and partner Alex Stevenson; son in law, Bobbie Gene Proffitt; great grandchildren, Blakely Morgan, Hadley Quinn Harbison, Joseph Finnegan "Finn", Hayes Thomas Dunwoodie, and River Marie Proffitt; niece, Saundra Tippins (John) Pascavage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Annette Proffitt, and brother, Bennie Tippins.
George attended grade and high school in Camden, he was a 1954 graduate. George enjoyed quail, turkey, and deer hunting as well as fishing for bass and crappie with Ann. He was an avid Chiefs fan. He had a great sense of humor. He was an avid storyteller of his hard to believe life experiences and pranks. He was a Mason, past Master of Ray Lodge #223, Camden and a member of the Camden Baptist Church. He worked for Tippins Oil and Gas, Inc. for 37 years.
There will be no services at this time. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Cravens Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the donor's choice.
