George Matthew "Matt" Coggins, 53, of Dover, died Thursday, November 14, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Matt was born on February 15, 1966, in Kansas City, the son of George Stephen and Patricia Joyce (Sutherland) Coggins.  He was united in marriage to Kelli Marie Carter of Richmond, on August 28, 1993; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: his mother, Patricia (Dean) Mather of Shenandoah, IA; two sons, Joshuwa Case of Richmond and George Stephen Coggins of Kansas City; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Coggins of Blue Springs; five grandchildren: Michael Coggins, Natalie Hoffman, Jahred Case, Jackson Parker, and Chance Hoffman; and one brother, Leonard Wayne (Desra) Coggins of Glenwood, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lawrence "Larry" Coggins.

Matt worked his whole life as a mechanic.  He proudly served his country in the National Guard.  He worked at W.C.A. Management Company in Grain Valley, as shop manager and head mechanic.  Matt had also worked at Tandem Truck Sales in Oak Grove.  He loved repairing things and building things.  Matt was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Lexington.  At the church, you name it, he would help with it.  He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible, hanging out with his family and friends, mushroom hunting, and hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Lexington.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2019, at the church.  Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.  Please share your memories of Matt by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com .
