GEORGE W. RAY

George W. Ray, 87, of Dover, MO died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Center Point Hospital in Independence, MO.
George was born on May 30, 1925 in Hodge, MO to John Henry and Grace (Belt) Ray. He married Martha Robertson of Waverly, MO on May 28, 1949; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Mike Ray of the home; one brother, Johnny Ray of Jackson County, MO; and one sister, Ellen Crump of Pettis County, MO.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers, Harmon Ray, Sr., and Earl Ray; and two sisters, Mildred Zinc and Leona Murray.
George was a Power Engineer at Lake City Arsenal for 20 years before retiring in 1985. He was of the Christian faith. He had lived in Dover most of his life. George was a member of the United States Army Transportation Corps.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dover Cemetery in Dover, MO; the body will lie in state Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO.
