MOTHER GEORGIA MAE DAVIS
Georgia Mae (Hutton) Davis, 84, of Richmond, MO, died at 11:20 a.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer, MO.
Georgia was born on June 26, 1927 in Richmond. She was the only child to Vernon and Nellie Mae (Bass) Hutton. She married James Harold Davis, Sr. of Lathrop, MO on February 2, 1941. Three children were born into this union.
She is survived by her husband, James Davis of the home. Two daughters, Virginia Walker of Richmond (George Slocum Pollard, a friend), Joann Boxly of Kansas City, MO and one son, James Harold Davis, Jr., Sonny of Richmond (Bertha, a friend).
Additional survivors include; a daughter in-law, Teresa Habernal (Ron) of Liberty, MO; two adopted daughters, Karry Fields (Matt) and Veronica Thaxton, all of Richmond. A loving nephew, Reverend Lloyd Fields (Arlene) of Kansas City, MO and a special daughter, Kathy Robinson (George) of Richmond; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, her church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Georgia worked at the Higginsville Habilitation Center in Higginsville, MO and retired in May 1987. She was a life time member of the Second Baptist Church in Richmond. She served on Ina Pugh Mission, Mother Board; Pastor's Aid Society and sang in the Choir.
She was a member of a Social Organization, "The Under 30 Club". She loved to cook and enjoyed traveling extensively.
She lived her entire life in the Richmond area.
The family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the Georgia Mae Davis Memorial Fund.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church in Richmond. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow services in Richmond Memory Gardens. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
