GERALD ANDERSON

Gerald Anderson, 85, of Richmond, MO, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at North Care Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.

Gerald was born on March 7, 1930 in Hardin, MO to Ira Noland and Opal Mae (Branson) Anderson.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Anderson of Richmond; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gerri and Kenneth Higgins of Spring Hill, KS and Lynn Anderson of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, Ira "Junior" and Marilyn Anderson of Richmond; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Dale Gentry of Longmont, CO and Judy and Ron Lowery of Excelsior Springs, MO; 5 grandchildren, Allie Buskirk, Frank Swett, Samantha Plymell, Jessica Plymell and Shane Stewart; and 7 great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jack Anderson, Kenneth W. Anderson and Bobby W. Anderson; and two sisters, Helen Bandy and Barbara Swafford.

Gerald was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #4398 in Richmond. He was a Kansas City Union Carpenter most of his life before retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Kansas City Carpenters Union. Gerald was of the Christian faith. He lived in the Hardin and Richmond area most of his life.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
