Gerald "Jerry" Edwin O'Dell, 62, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Jerry was born on June 14, 1956, in Richmond, the son of Raymond Gerald and Ida Jean (Barker) O'Dell.  He was united in marriage to Patricia Good of Orrick on May 21, 1986.  They later divorced, yet still maintained a close friendship up until his passing.

Jerry worked as a trucker for a decade and had a strong passion for his career.  He also had a lifelong love of horses and rodeos, eventually starting his own company and having his own rodeo, O'Dell Rodeo Company, based out of his hometown in Richmond, MO.  He was a national saddle bronc champion and wore the title with pride.  He loved John Wayne, Gunsmoke and couldn't go a day without listening to his favorite artist, George Strait.  In his downtime, he loved to be surrounded by his friends and family, specifically his children and grandchildren, of whom he always held close to his heart.

Survivors include: his mother, Ida Jean O'Dell of Richmond; two sons: Gerald "Jerry" Edwin O'Dell, Jr., of Columbia, and Tyler Delayne O'Dell of Orrick; two brothers: Rex O'Dell of Richmond and Johnnie O'Dell (Theresa) of Buckner; two sisters: Karry Fields (Matt) of Richmond and Kimberly Mace (Bobby) of Richmond; three grandchildren: Heather Adams, Jordan Merriman, and Janessa Silvers; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and his longtime companion, Anna Metzler of Henrietta.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Gerald O'Dell, one daughter Lori Jean O'Dell, one brother Clint O'Dell, one grandson Austin Derrick O'Dell, a sister-in-law Diane O'Dell, two nieces Cherrie and Chana O'Dell, and a nephew Travis O'Dell.
